The times are changing but we don't change....

The times are changing but we don't change....

I had once thought that human beings were moving towards a point of great enlightenment. That social justice would become a 'norm' and not have to be fought for. And then I find myself flabbergasted at the results of the elections in Britain all over again. Ordinary people took to the streets in their millions to vote back in the same party that have systematically, been removing all the blocks to getting away with murder, and devastating the planet and the hope of continued life here on it. Now of course the Tories are not the only ones who have failed to deal adequately with, really important and imminent global issues that threaten to depopulate the planet of human beings en-mass. In some places we haven't even conceded that we are to blame for the climate changes and global green house gas emissions, that are wrecking the air supply and heating up the polar ice caps at such a rate that we may all be drowned in a few decades.

It seems to me to be ludicrous that few people, were prepared to end the greed and corruption of the past centuries and bring about wholesome changes, that could benefit the entire global community, not just the few. Like you I no doubt seem shocked that the evidence has yet again been ignored, and that we have accelerated away from the responsibility to do something quickly and avert the disaster we are causing with our greedy politics and solely financial based economies. Many people in our history warned us of the effects of this corruption if we did not stop it. Sadly we do not appear to heed anything, and my observations still tell me that we are past the point of getting it back on track with any haste. A big part of me feels overwhelmed at our collective stupidity and lack of wisdom. The main part of me feels ineffective against an obvious enemy for change, that has crushed many of us in the wake of its tireless abandon for world domination and human extinction.

Don't we get it that if we don't react quickly we are outa here, no future for the children of the world or their children?

If I were wrong (and I sincerely wish I were) then why doesn't the evidence show this is not the case?

Some part of me, a very tiny yet equally powerful part, still believes in miracles, and that we could stop this madness if we wanted. I don't see the majority of people recognising this and it makes me feel quite helpless and dejected, and this bothers me. We don't have the want of ending the possibility our own extinction. So what good has all of this technology, education and money done for us, if we learn nothing?

I'm standing on a road, crossing to the safety of the meadow by the woods and suddenly a large truck is heading down the road and my legs become rooted to the spot. The driver sees me and accelerates towards me but I can't move, so powerless do I feel in the fear I have been indoctrinated with, to challenge the way things are. Fate is a sick joke and I know I ought not believe in this lie, but it rings in my ears as the truck thunders closer with each passing second. Suddenly I spy a small child crossing alongside me and they too become frightened in to not moving out of the way of the Juggernaut. I sense the wrongness of the death of this child, ahead of my own demise, but still cannot move. Time slows down and I realise we are both going to be smashed to pieces under the sheer weight of the oncoming truck. Then somehow I look to my left and begin to see so many others all stood helplessly stranded and shaking with fear. I hear thudding in my ears and the sound of the lorry becomes deafening, closing in. There is nothing right or good or even fair about this, and I am more frightened than I have ever been in my entire life. This, beyond anything I have ever known scares me more, my failure to respond to certain destruction and an end to all that I hold dear. Closing my eyes will not stop this oppression, nor will it avert the fate I am told will come, but close them I do in the certain knowledge that life is over and that nothing can change this.

Then a thought occurs and I immediately feel hopeful. If I chose a new reality I will not have to suffer the eventuality that will take my life away. Love fills me. Love of others ahead of myself and a chance to show how change can be good for us. My legs begin to move and before I realise it I am running towards the truck bearing down on us, with renewed faith in the power of love. I run with all the strength that is within me, and throw myself high into the air as I reach impact point with the truck and its crazed driver. In his eyes I suddenly see fear, fear that my doing something other than what he expected me to do fills him with shock and surprise. He realises I am not afraid, and that he cannot hurt me now in my sacrifice, but that I can hurt him as I come in through the windscreen. In a swift movement he swerves away and crashes his vehicle into the grasses at the kerbside as I fall softly back to the ground and smile.

I run over to the truck to help the driver despite the hatred I had witnessed in his actions only moments ago. He looks small, stunned and himself helpless as I offer a hand to help him from the wreckage. He clearly doesn't know what to say as those that he would also have killed come along to offer him kindness. The child that was by my side, is now carrying a flower and places this softly in the hands of the driver and says to be more careful in future. Smiling the child moves away to find their family, singing and skipping full of innocence and joy.

Nothing can deter the power of love, for when the power of love overcomes the love of power we all will know peace.

Holding grudges is part of the problem with why we are fighting in the first place. Being greedy and selfish is a misguided response to a lack of what we believe we are missing out on. We deserve what we give to others. If this is violence then we beget more violence. If we mistrust and base our actions on this, then we are to be mistrusted. The cycle is continued whilst we continue with it. If we let it go, it could eventually be gone. Challenge the world by all means, but do it with love and not fear, and watch the love come back. The world we have helped to create is exactly the way it is because of us and our expectations. Those that thought that they have a right to more than anyone else, have created the scenario where greed can exist. If we shared what is here, what was here long before we came about, then the argument about more or less would be pointless. Abundance can only exist if we create the place to have abundance for all. Otherwise it is not abundance at all but greed.

The Native Americans knew that the earth does not belong to us, that we belong to it.

So people, please, let's stop squabbling over land and possessions and be the kind of people who care for others and who can share what is given to us for free. Life should not be a debt we have to pay for, but a right that we can all enjoy. I'm done now, so you can make your own minds up, and guess what?

I'll still believe that Love is stronger than any other gift.

Much Love and Peace....

Getting to grips with the ‘W’ word.

Getting to grips with the ‘W’ word.

Isn’t it politically that the elephant in the room always seems to be the why word?

If like me you are always bereft as to the reasons for things not working out as you had hoped/believe they would or had been told they would, then isn’t it just the most sensible option to ask the question that could lead to an understanding of the issues before you?
If we are not courageous enough to ask, then will we ever know the reality of how valuable truth and clarity is?

As the election looms upon us and many party leaders vie for a spotlight to deliver their rhetoric on how things could be better, I would urge each and every one of us to ask with un-faultering voice and in one accord, why things are not already working as we were promised on numerous occasions of the past.

Whilst we are listening now to all of the conversations about policy and what the problems are, we would do well to investigate the reasons behind the fact that, we are actually having to deal with many of these topics in the first place.  We are now in the twenty first century and have a wealth of catalogued history and record keeping at our disposal to review and evaluate strategies, what has and hasn’t worked socially and economically throughout all that time. It would seem that since the live debate last week that almost none of the party leaders can stand to discuss the real issues we as a nation and civilization on the planet face, whilst they first have to get the economy and its ramifications out into the open and say what they will do to get it back on track. What about Climate change? Haven’t they understood that without a planet, air to breath and water to drink, we as a species are on our way out along with the Black Rhinoceros, that I recently heard has now joined the myriads of others this past century. There will be no economy without a place for that or resources to trade with one another, or people.

I find it sad that nearly all of them except Natalie Bennet, made it abundantly clear that we (the collective ‘we’ that is now responsible for the devastating  effects from the problems caused predominantly by the one percent) don't have to pay back our debts before any real changes can happen and we can tackle the daily issues that most of the population of our once great nation have to face. Incidentally the people that have caused the financial state of our country are also the same one percent, whom never appear to be paying any of their profits back into the system that they have helped to break, and restore the balance of fairness and trade. Well why should they, justice and the law is not able to make them do this?

If the economy were so important then why does the debt seem so great that if we worked for a hundred years we could never ever pay it back? Surely the maths doesn’t add up, and George Osbournes figures have not been transparent enough to show these truths to his voting public. Please look a little harder and you will see the truth. The Fiat money fractional reserve system is set up to never be paid off. Debt is the only way it can, and has worked so far. The growth that these leaders are always talking about, is the way they cover the lie that productivity can continue the way it is forever, when clearly the facts show that in a finite resource commodity market, eventually things will run out. And this includes the food service and air and water reserves we have and need to continue living here on mother earth. They are abundant but currently being harvested as if they will last forever, yet they are in fact depleting at an alarming rate globally.

So if these arguments come even close to the reasonableness that I believe they do, couldn’t we discover the reasons why we have not learned anything from our combined and collective review of history and the lack of wisdom we had already shown many times before?

Why do we not look at what we have done and discuss seriously and openly the lessons we should have learned and what we will subsequently do to alter the outcomes we have faced?

Let me share with you something that I have looked at, and have subsequently taken a dedicated stand towards based on its wise council.

There is something, the knowing of which would change everything.

What is that something?

What about, if we do what we have always done, we’ll get what we always got.

In these two phrases I see the wisdom of not continuing with policies, actions, or even patterns of behaviour that are not working for the good of all people, given that all politicians say this is their most important mission in taking the stands that they do. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to realise that if you harm others, indirectly you are also hurting yourself. That if you are greedy and selfish and don’t pay any care to the needs of others, then they will suffer and subsequently so will you too. The ripples of the pond go out and often we cannot know where they cause an effect. How we treat others will inevitably come back to reflect upon us, both for the good and the negative. I hate to sound like a preacher, but I do think that somewhere deep within each of us, we need some guidance on how to see what is before our eyes and how to interpret that information and make it beneficial for everyone. Look within yourselves and feel the connectivity that has been the only way we have ever been great on this planet.

It may be that when we ask why, we find that certain aspect of our behaviour come out to sully our reputations and make us look selfish. It may be that we are saddened by the answers and what this says about us as a race, a species and as a dominant inhabitant on the earth. We may even see how hypocritical we really are. But most importantly we may see that we are in fact not doing anything close to what we say we are, or could do for the benefit of the inhabitants of the earth as a whole.

In terms of the political debate in this current arena of transparency when we ask why there are people suffering, why there are wars and why treatments are not available to those without financial resource, that we see how poor we really are in achieving such noble goals. Is it not because we make money the driver of all we do, that we achieve only limited success? May it not be that if we put people ahead of profiteering that the standard of living and the access to security and wellbeing would automatically increase ten fold?

Ok, so maybe what I am asking you to consider is way too utopian and simplistic. But is it not beholden upon each and every one of us to at least strive to understand the answers to questions that never seem to have been answered by politicians clearly and effectively. Have a quick look at the debates in the houses of commons on television and decide if it doesn’t remind you of a school ground and not the seat of democratic representation. The ceremonies take so long that the debates get a few minutes of consideration per vote, and so what really matters is demeaned to a level not fit for the welfare of people of our nation.

To end I would like to ask just one more brace of questions that will fit in with the title of this article. I hope that you will go away and let this all sink in before you come back with a recourse and more searching questions.

WHY do we as a nation spend far more money, give far more of our attention to warfare and strategies that devastate and end lives of humans and animals than those initiatives to save lives and help people live in security and abundance?

And WHY do we not make love the law and hate the enemy of the state?
Thank you for reading and I hope that we can enter into an open and balanced discussion about your findings of these and many  questions that I hope it has raised in you.

To ask why, is not a crime. It is almost the first thing we repeatedly asked our parents as children, for our enquiring minds needed those answers. And maybe they still do….

Look for the Green in your soul.

Love and Peace.

Peaceful Warrior.

Je suis Charlie Hebdo.

This post is dedicated to the people of this magnificent establishment fighting for open and free journalism, Charlie Hebdo of Paris, France. I have made an exception to my blog by posting this original poem written today, that may appear to favour anti Muslim sentiment. I DO NOT have a religious preference nor do I despise real Muslim people for this attack. I simply wish to join the growing numbers of free individuals who abhor violence of any kind and say that anyone believing their god would sanction this type of action does not know LOVE. My deepest respects to the families and loved ones of the deceased. Long live freedom of the people.

Je suis Charlie Hebdo.
With this pen, I condemn the senseless murder of freedom!

Who issued the fatwa
That slayed the blood of democracy?
Charlie were not hate filled,
Were not ambassadors for injustice,
Nor do they stand alone in life.
Nor do they stand alone in death.

Does anyone grow fond of Islam
When murder is revered within?
Charlie informed the critique in us,
The desire to laugh at hypocrisy,
A love to laugh in the face,
Of the ridiculous voice of terror.

Are we moved to follow
A god that would support this?
Charlie were just our Pinocchio,
Asking truth to show its worth,
Muslim fanatics cannot ever win,
Our soul is in the laughter.

 When will people ever learn
To live in peace, with liberty?
Charlie understood an inalienable truth,
That kept us free from tyranny,
We must laugh at our inadequacies,
Before people will take us seriously.

Who else will now be a target
For hatred breathed by evil?
Charlie mocked only the hypocrisy,
That we all know to be in war,
And here today in bloody Paris,
Their vision is needed more.

Will you stand united now
To condemn this violent crime?
Charlie stood for a fairer world,
One that loves us all as one,
Mocking the lies and the vitriol,
Warning us of what we’ve become!

I am the power of the pen/cil.

With respect to the 12 brave people who died in this horrific hate crime.
We will not forget you.
You and your families are in our hearts.
R.I.P.

Satyagraha

Truth Force.

Who do we know that would deliver the truth to us?
Could we handle the truth?
And finally would we know truth if it hit us in the face?

These are the questions I am constantly asking myself. And sadly I have yet to find the ones that would be able to do this on a long term and constant basis in our society that would bring peace and prosperity to all people.
Friends of course do often accomplish this in small ways and this is where we/I get my encouragements from no doubt. In matters of personal and small concern this may be enough. But on a local scale, on a national scale and ultimately an international scale what I am witnessing is a total reversal of the ethics of transparency, justice and fairness that I believe are the bedrock of any civilisation. I am seeing nothing short of the kinds of behaviours that are bringing about a near total collapse of society and the care for the world around us. I dare say many feel the same, but I speak here for no-one specifically, except myself, in terms of what my eyes and ears are witnessing on a daily and sometime hourly basis. Humanity has failed to bring about any real justice and fairness both to its own kind, and that of the earth and all her other creatures. Soon there will be no more time to undo this damage and the human race as we have come to know it will be changed forever, maybe even becoming extinct from earth.

The earth won't care of course it doesn't need us to survive. It has been doing what it does for the past so many billions of years and will continue on beyond us for many more billions I imagine. Sadly mankind has not accepted any real responsibility for the affairs of its own making, and as our present population has now soared to a whapping 7+ billion it won't be long before we have few resources left for anyone to survive. Greed has become one of the foremost catastrophic levellers of our modern age. We are abusing the earth as if its resources were infinite, but of course they are not. And add to this the mismanaged way we use them and the utterly disgusting way in which we hoard them, sharing very little of it with everyone, this abuse will of itself be a key contributor to our demise.

I hope that my pessimistic outlook doesn't deter anyone from understanding that things could so easily be different. In reality I am personally very optimistic that things can be changed for the good of all mankind. I know this because some very amazing and visionary historical figures have left examples that proved alternatives were possible and actually achievable. The sad thing about this is that we as human beings have become way too fickle to actually remember and act upon these priceless examples of change that could affect better outcomes for everyone. Few even care who Jesus and Gandhi and Buddha and Muhammad really were, or what they have displayed to us as alternatives to self motivated existence. Though I'm not sponsoring or supporting any particular religious ideology, I feel that it goes without saying that the thinking behind the writings of the Holy books of any religion, were to share a record of the teachings and examples that various characters displayed.
In the case of Gandhi though he was never held up as a divine being, even though in some instances he was and is, still highly revered amongst his peers. Born on the 2nd October 1869 in Porbandar India, he rose to noteworthiness throughout a life dedicated to the service of others and for a path of non-violent passive resistance against the British Empire culminating with his assassination on the 30 January 1948 in New Delhi India. He was given the honorary title Mahatma (meaning great soul/spirit) by his peers, but he never felt worthy of such an accolade as he carried on selflessly adhering himself to the way of peace and his experiments with truth. Unlike others of his time he sought no personal gain from the actions he lived on a daily basis, giving creed to the ideas that being of service was reward in itself. It is definitively evident that he had inspired a great number of people, both those of his beloved homeland, but also those whom he came into contact with across the world. Albert Einstein famously said of Gandhi, “generations to come will scarcely believe that such a one as this walked the earth in flesh and blood”. Since his death many people have carried on the work that Gandhi promoted and today there is still a considerable movement of people who remember the message he shared and what benefit that can have upon us.

For his era, he was a pioneer of the Satyagraha.

Satyagraha (/ˌsætɪəˈɡrɑːhɑː/Sanskritसत्याग्रह satyāgraha), loosely translated as "insistence on truth" (satya "truth";agraha "insistence") or holding onto truth[1] or truth force, is a particular philosophy and practice within the broader overall category generally known as nonviolent resistance or civil resistance.

He was convinced that one could not deny the existence of a divine authority in the universe and that this would mean that all people, men and women were equals and therefore should be treated fairly. The British Empire of which he was born a citizen, to him extolled the greatest system of justice and truth in his day. But he became dismayed later by that same system when he began to discover its flaws and actually its very real inequality meted out upon its subjects around the globe. For this he fought and eventually gained huge ground. Few would doubt his nations victory as India waved goodbye to the British Empires long established rule, after a deliberate and sustained Satyagraha, his campaign of non-violent resistance to the oppressions they inflicted upon India and her people in the pursuit of economic control. Despite the murderous attempts of the British Army at Amritsar (See footnote *), Gandhi managed to calm the people into total submission of this action and later on the beaches where they defied a law on harvesting salt, he showed how peaceful non-violent action could actually achieve far more than people had previously realised possible.

Earlier in his life he had taken a stand against the actions of the British Empire in Africa and declared, “They may torture my body, break my bones, even kill me, then they will have my dead body. NOT MY OBEDIENCE!” This statement definitely implies his dedication to the cause he set out to achieve. He believed very strongly in the truth and in maintaining an adherence to it at all costs. Of course like many of us he was also imperfect and made errors, but he used this self analysis upon himself constantly, to hone the skills necessary to avoid ego being the strongest motivator of his actions.

If a man like Gandhi was alive today then we might have a chance to see some real justice restored. Naturally Gandhi wasn’t the only one to have done anything like this. Martin Luther King Jr, Malcolm X, Mother Teresa, and even some currently living examples of peaceful non-compliance are heralding the re-instigation of harmonious methods of activity. Malala Yousafsai, Dalai Lama, and even RussellBrand are doing some incredible things to bring people’s attention to the fore.

In the political arenas these figures don’t hold much weight. Unfortunately, we are trapped beneath the bureaucracy of the antiquated voting system that keeps the rich as guardians of our supposed democracy. We really don’t have a democracy here, but the illusion of one. If people would only take more responsibility for their own lives and actions then we might just be in with a chance to NOT have more of the same. Imagine, if we do what we’ve always done, we’ll get what we’ve always gotten. Scary as it might at first appear, our only real solution is a radical shake-up of the system of our governance. Laws that will work for fairness and not political bargaining power. Courts that convict everyone who is proved guilty by the same measuring stick, and that administer justice not based on privilege, bloodlines and money. Fair administration of wealth and resources rather than an elite few individuals having the greatest share. Austerity for no-one and meaningful work for everyone who wants a job that are capable. Ecological and environmentally sound policies that do not harm the planet and create lasting benefits to all inhabitants of earth. Education and health services that are not run by idiots but by people qualified in these specific disciplines. Housing programs that look at the resources and environmental concerns before profiteering of the corporations. An education of our interconnectedness with each other and the planet and a renouncement of lies that have held us back from gaining true understanding as to our existence here on earth and its purpose.

If we as a nation could stop believing that we are more important than any other, then I believe that peace on earth and a supportable and resilient system could function much better than what we have done for the past centuries. Suffering is optional. If we don’t like what we have chosen, then all we have to do is collectively and cooperatively choose again.

Whilst I don’t support any one political party over another, I am rather keen to see sensible policies come into action and over a much longer period that the current system allows. The Green Party have displayed a number of initiatives that are quite revolutionary and frankly more likely to succeed where we have collectively been failing in the past. If we could implement a political system that was more representative of ordinary people and their concerns and interests, then I believe we might just save ourselves further long term harm. If we looked at Gandhi and the way he displayed truth, then we might just know a better day.

Please remember, it is not what people say that should influence you the most, but what they do…
(Ministers expenses, economic unrest, banker’s bonuses etc. etc. etc….)

The choice is yours. The future though has to be ours…..

With love and peace, I rest my case for peaceful non-compliance…

In solidarity.

Peaceful Warrior.

N.B!!
Since writing this I have made a decision to join the Green Party of England and Wales and work to support the highly achievable goals that this parties policies will bring to Britain. They are to me the only ones with enough passion and determination to effect real changes for the common good. I am also standing in my local ward of Hartsholme Lincoln to be the change I wish to see here.

1* Incidentally the Encyclopedia Britanica reports that only a large number were killed at the massacre, which could imply a typical policy of non-objectivity towards this atrocity.
2* Whereas the Indian National Congress are quoted as saying that as many as between 1000 and 1500 people were killed that day. (Read)
Various reasons why a true figure could not be given are highlighted in the above texts
